Has your year started really busy? Have you moved, or are you planning to move? Will your kids change schools this summer or leave for college? Has your husband changed jobs, left on a military deployment, or will he return from one soon? Have there been any unexpected health issues in your family recently? Have you taken on a new job or responsibilities in your community?
As I reflect on these potential changes in our lives, God reminds me of a few of my favorite Scriptures, and I recall valuable advice I gathered over the years.
1. A decision that aligns with God’s plan for you brings peace in your heart.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. ~Proverbs 3:5-6
2. When you feel confused or uncertain, take time to gather more information before deciding which way to go.
For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. ~1 Corinthians 14:33
3. Avoid complaining about what God has called you to do, and give the credit to Him for what He has accomplished.
I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. ~Psalm 32:8
4. Being kind to yourself often means saying “no” to others and even to yourself.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. ~ Isaiah 40:31
5. If you repeat a problem more than once without any intent to fix it or seek a solution, you are complaining.
Do everything without complaining and arguing. ~ Philippians 2:14
6. When your life changes rapidly, and you may have many unmet needs, look to God for your supply.
And the same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches. ~ Philippians 4:19
7. Negative thoughts that race through your head are not from God.
You will know the truth and the truth will set you free ~ John 8:32.
8. Disciplining your children will not harm them. God disciplines us when we need it.
Discipline your children while there is hope. Otherwise, you will ruin their lives. ~ Proverbs 19:18
9. On those days when you feel sad and discouraged, remember God controls your life with His love.
Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God. ~ Psalm 42:5
10. As you decide what to do next, listen for God’s guidance.
Your own ears will hear Him. Right behind you, a voice will say, “This is the way you should go.” ~ Isaiah 30:21
