Avoid Divorce Ultimatums to Strengthen Your Marriage

During the first few years of our marriage, I, like many of you, found myself using the word divorce in our arguments. It was a desperate measure, a last resort when it seemed like our differences were insurmountable.

But, soon, I realized that using the D-word didn’t fix or resolve our disputes. Instead,, it made me feel insecure and shook my confidence in our ability to keep our marriage together.

Try This

A visual demonstration, such as the one I’m about to share, helps us understand the consequences of our decisions.

Here’s how you do it.

  • Glue two sheets of paper together.
  • Once dry, try to pull them apart.

When attempting to separate them, both sheets tear and leave remnants of the other behind. The glue bonded them into one, making it difficult to separate them without damaging both.

Married for Life

God designed marriage when He created a man and a woman with the intention that they would remain married until separated by death. To build a successful marriage, we must put in effort, show mercy, persevere, and practice selfless giving through life’s challenges.

Stop Trying to Change Him

When we change our attitude and stop trying to overhaul our guys, God performs miraculous transformations beyond what we can imagine. This could mean accepting our husbands’ quirks, respecting their decisions, or refraining from constant criticism.

Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” ~Genesis 2:18

Today’s Tip for a Better Marriage

Text your husband. Let him know you’re committed until death, regardless of the ups and downs; seal it with a kiss.
