We share a bed, meals, and money, but do we share our closet?

“Honey, I know we bought this house together, and we sleep in the same bed, but you’ll have to go to another room to get your closets.”

Make room in the closet for your husband’s clothes. This simple act of love demonstrates how much we care about our husbands and want them in every part of our lives.

Besides-

it’s fun to watch each other dress. Romantic and sexy.

Sharing a closet is a three-step process: prep your wardrobe, get the storage tools you need, and purge the clothes you don’t use.

If we have too many clothes, there is no way we will fit his clothes and ours into the same closet.

Do your closet purge, but don’t purge his clothes without permission. Don’t start a fight- they are their clothes, not ours.

If our men have too many clothes for a shared closet, I suggest putting what they wear most often on one side of the closet we plan to share. Then, store or move the other items he doesn’t wear often and let him know where you put his clothes.

Once he sees what we did, they may want to purge, too. If not, we can enjoy the progress we made.

Always – be polite!

Steps to Sharing a Closet

  1. Prep the Closet

Top Shelf – Make sure the closet has a top shelf. If it doesn’t have one, find a way to add a shelf.

Hanging Bar – Double your space and hang his shirts on the top rack and pants on the bottom. You may want a second rod for your side.

2. Organize

Shoe Bag- Hang it from the rod and fit 7-8 pairs of shoes in the space of one

Hanging Storage – Use the vertical space to increase the storage. Add baskets to fit in the cubbies to store underwear, socks, sweaters, and exercise clothes.

Hoops and Racks – Belt hoops, tie racks, and scarf hangers group items together and still make them accessible. Look for fun and creative ways to store accessories.

Decorative Boxes – Use stackable boxes for the top shelf to store out-of-season clothing.

First, help me to never tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. ~Proverbs 30:8

I’m so excited to discover my seasonal color group and stop buying clothes that look good in magazines but are unsuitable for me. I’m also motivated to stop putting caramel highlights in my hair and return to my natural hair color. Attempting to have ‘autumn’ hair with ‘winter’ skin has been trying. – Stephanie Stear
